Advantages Of Teaching Your Child To Read In Early Childhood

  • One of the best advantages for teaching children to read before school is obvious heightened communication between parent and child. Close bonds are formed during this time and baby is learning on a one to one basis with mother through more interaction than there otherwise would be. The child begins to use skills and senses to read and other that in other circumstances would lay dormant and deteriorate.

  • The opportunity to watch VISUA:L PRIMERis regarded by very young viewers as an enjoyable & very much looked forward to event.

  • Actual time spent in completing any one of the Programme Units is as short as possible. Young children as a result do not show any signs of being bored, an the period spent watching the screen is within the attention span of young children.

  • Most reactions of children are the same. Parents with very young children report that these children do not normally watch television because of the on-screen business of TV at such an early age but extend their interest toward the programme. One session or sitting is of the order of one minute or less. The duration of each image of the sequence is preferably less than one second, for example, between one half to one second. The presentation is stimulating which is another aid to encourage attention.

  • Parental input as a source of praise and encouragement has made even the crudest form of the programme good viewing and considered worthwhile by young children. Young children are absorbed by the presentation and will try to imitate and say the words encoded on the programme. Preschool age readers are constructive and find extra interest in their day to day activities and watch less television which encourages better imagination.

  • By learning to read early, confidence is created because one of the elements of reading is the ability to read 'all by myself'... a remarkable achievement in itself. Thus, a child with confidence can move ahead more quickly with school work, gaining a high level of achievement. Early reading enables the child to gain a higher level of comprehension and conversation.

  • At school, the pressure of academic achievement is removed with the head start children get when they learn to read early and they are able to learn more in a relaxed, pleasant atmosphere. Most people can never really know what this means. A child at five years who is academically advanced as a fifth or sixth grader and mastered many concepts and skills of secondary science and maths is a more than remarkable achiever.

  • Can babies really learn to read at this age? They sure can. These children become more intelligent, bright, witty, confident, outgoing and well adjusted and often leaders of their age group, helped along by encouragement & close family bonds formed in the interactive, early childhood years.
